A "Let's Do Something Amazing" Mindset

This past Labor day was very beneficial for me. I needed time to relax and take a break. Waking up at 6 am and going nonstop at school for 7 hours just to get home and do homework for an hour gets a little exhausting. I did an Instagram post a couple of days ago that talked about this fast-paced lifestyle that many of us get in the hang of. When we step back and think about the good we’ve done for others and ourselves, we can’t think of any. How are we supposed remember the “bigger picture stuff” when don’t make time to even remember what we had for breakfast? One way to solve this problem is by having a different mindset. Most people get into this lazy, simple lifestyle, but we do not want to become comfortable and miss out on huge opportunities. How do we have a “Let's Do Something Amazing” mindset? This is where we are preparing for an awesome opportunity to arise and we snatch it up. I’ve compiled three main principles that make up a “Let’s Do Something Amazing” mindset.

  1. Don't hold anything back.
  2. You let go and put everything out on the table. Mannyyy times in my life, I only give up a part of my life to Jesus. I only let Him transform part of my life, but not all of it. I used to have a picture-perfect plan for my life. My goals were in place and everything, but over time and as I have grown, my dreams change. We have to allow God to shape our minds in every single situation we are in. In 1 Samuel 16, Samuel was sent by God to anoint a new king. As he went to the house, Samuel looked for all the strong ones, the ones who looked the part of a king, but the Lord said, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Samuel goes on to anoint David. You see, Samuel hadn't put everything on the table. He had held back the way he viewed the King. To live where we are ready at any moment to do some awesome Kingdom work, we have to allow God to work and transform us within.

  3. Throw away what God wants us to throw away.
  4. Don’t hold on to it. The story to convey this message is perfect. Basically Saul defeated the Amalekites. God had told Saul, “Now go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them. Do not spare them; put to death men and women, children and infants, cattle and sheep, camels and donkeys.” Saul and his people disobeyed that. They took what was good in their eyes, the oxen, lambs, and fattened cows. They didn't fully let go of what God wanted them to let go. He was testing to see how much they loved him. Sometimes the things we see as good are actually the things holding us back from God. God was asking, “What do you care about more?” When we realize this, and get all the junk out of our lives, it’s easier to focus in on what, or more specifically who really matters.

  5. Take advantage of opportunities that are given to you.
  6. 1 samuel 17. David and Goliath. David saw a problem and an opportunity to stand up for God. Even though Goliath seemed big and strong, David knew the Lord was calling him to win this battle, or at least try to. You may not have a huge giant or even feel like you're defeating a giant, but by loving someone or sharing Jesus to someone, you could be defeating a giant in someone's life. We have to take in these small opportunities as life changing ones. Be like David and when we see things that need to be done, and God is calling us to do it, we without a doubt do it.

Romans 12:11 - “Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.” In other words, this means, don't be lazy in your passions, be passionate in spirit, serve the Lord. This is a prime example of a “Let's Do Something Amazing” mindset. Be excited and ready for this journey that God’s going to take you on. Sometimes our circumstances don't change but our mindset changes, which changes our whole life. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Jesus is the “Let’s Do Something Amazing” mindset. Follow Him and you will have a brand new output on life.
