Refuse to Sink

"Refuse to sink" means to not let the devil’s temptation control you. In your life, you have to refuse to give into temptation and peer pressure. Because everyone is tempted, it may seem okay to give into that pressure once or twice, but really you have to refuse the temptation from the start!

You not only have to refuse the temptation to do things bad, but you also have to refuse to let Satan decipher how you feel.

Fact: Bad things are going to happen.

You control how you react to those bad things! Once you put Satan in charge of your reactions then you are no longer living for God.

One way to “refuse to sink” is to never doubt God. When you doubt the power of God, you have already lost! Trust in God always. Isaiah 7:9 says, “If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.” Put all of your trust into God. During struggles in your life, hold on to God or better yet, let God hold on to you. This does NOT mean you don’t do anything though!

In your life, you have to work for everything (or you should.) Think about the story of Noah’s ark. God told Noah what to do, but Noah had to do it. God didn’t just make an ark appear and say, “Hey Noah. Grab your fam and get in the ark.” Noah had to actually build the ark.

Jeremiah 20:11 says, “But the Lord is with me like a mighty warrior.” God will fight for you. You have to fight also. During the bad times and during the good times, refuse to sink. Refuse to let Satan control your thoughts, your actions, and your reactions. Let God be in control!
